EuroPython 2009 Sprints

When

How

Propose and organise your sprints here, on this page. If you wish to hold a sprint, give details here and get sprinters to sign up here. If a sprint is organised on this page, then the Conference organisers will provide the sprint facilities (but please don't leave it until the last minute, or we may not have space to hold your sprint).

Proposed Sprints

This page is for sprinters to organise their sprints. Ideas so far are:

Please add suggestions for sprint topics to this list, and when the idea becomes reality, organise it here. For example:

Python 3 Documentation

Purpose

To help improve the Py3k documentation.

Details

We'd like to hold this for two days after the conference. We need a leader who should be a Python 3 developer.

File System API

Purpose

Tommi Virtanen was complaining at EuroPython 2008 that there are no good, complete and universal libraries/APIs for navigating file systems and "file system like" objects, and proposed that "someone" should do something with it. The ultimate purpose is to make a library that can be included in the standard distribution.

Details

We started working on a library for accessing different kind of file systems during the sprints in 2008. We still need to implement support for some more "file system like objects", like git and tarballs, argue about some design decisions, and (maybe most important) write up a good PEP for it.

There will probably not be any sprinting Saturday as people are leaving.

Anyone interested should join the #fssprint channel on freenode. Send an email to fs-subscribe@lists.eagain.net to join the mailing list.

To see the work done in 2008, check out http://eagain.net/gitweb/?p=fs.git ... or use the command git clone git://eagain.net/fs.git. If Tommi has installed your ssh key, use the command git clone git@eagain.net:fs.git
